Public Television of Russia is a federal TV channel focused primarily on what is happening in society. The channel was created on the initiative of Dmitry Medvedev in 2013.

The main mission of the OTR is the formation and development of a modern civil society. The main acting force of this society should be people with an active life position, expressed self-consciousness, who are actively involved in building not only an individual, but also a collective future. The TV channel has assumed the responsibility to inform in a popular form about various types of social practices in which any viewer can participate, bringing undoubted benefits to other people, and therefore to society as a whole.
