A young resident of the village of Spasskaya in the Ustyansky district of the Arkhangelsk region, Marat Velutin, participated for the first time in a project organized by Rosprirodnadzor, and immediately won a landslide victory, taking second place in the nomination "Ecomir".

In his competitive video, Marat told about the recycling collection point in the village of Malodory, which was initiated by him and his mother. At the moment, the ecopoint is successfully operating and accepts various types of plastic, glass and waste paper from the population. In addition, at the age of ten, Marat already runs a blog in which he tells how to properly sort garbage and take care of nature, notes the importance of conscious consumption.

The award ceremony of the young ecologist was held at the visit center of the Russian Arctic National Park.

Presenting the winner's diploma to Marat, the representative of Rosprirodnadzor – the head of the Northern Interregional Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Alexander Gornikh noted that the jury of the competition highly appreciated the work of the ten-year-old northerner.

- The format of eco–education, when children tell adults about why and how to sort garbage, is one of the most effective forms of providing information, – he said. – Many thanks to the parents for supporting their son in his endeavors.According to Marat, the victory in the competition was a surprise for him.

In addition to studying ecology, he is also fond of sports, successfully engaged in table tennis. The boy's mother Olga Velutina noted that it is always important to support the child's hobbies, follow him and be an example for him.

- It all started with the fact that we began to look at which packages of goods are processed and which are not. We tried to buy what is packed in an eco-friendly wrapper. Toys were purchased from wood, food–grade plastic, which is recycled," she said. – And then the son himself plunged into this topic and created his own blog.Representatives of the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill and the national Park "Russian Arctic" also presented their congratulations and gifts to Marat.

It should be noted that together with Marat, a young Velchanka Elizaveta Gubenskaya participated in the Rosprirodnadzor project "Ecology is everyone's business" from Pomerania. The girl took the third place in the nomination "Ecomultfilm". In her work, she showed the consequences of the accumulation of garbage in the forest.

The contest "Ecology is everyone's business" has been held since 2021 in accordance with the national development goals of the Russian Federation set out in the Decree of the President of Russia dated July 21, 2020, including the health and well–being of people, opportunities for self–realization and talent development, a comfortable and safe environment for life, digital transformation. The aim of the project is to popularize the topic of ecology, to educate children with respect for nature and the environment, to increase their ecological culture, as well as to identify talented children.
