The head of Rosprirodnadzor, during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Colombia, spoke about the award and noted that last year one of the participants from Colombia, twelve-year-old Maria Jose Garzon Bermudez, took third place in the Ecomir nomination. She sent a video where she said that she constantly participates with her family in contests and actions to protect the environment. Maria creates dresses from recycled materials such as cardboard, polyethylene and plastic. The girl told how her family recycles water from the washing machine and reuses it for other purposes. She also likes to make gifts from recycled paper and cardboard and gives them to friends.

"Environmental problems in many countries of the world are often similar. And you can find optimal solutions together. The main mission of our award is to instill environmental habits in children, teenagers and their parents through simple activities – environmental actions, flash mobs, waste separation, cleaning of the house territory or just creativity, which will be devoted to the topic of environmental conservation. Our task is environmental education, popularization of the culture of responsible attitude to natural resources, increasing social activity among young people, including through "green volunteering". Last year you already had a winner, we hope that Colombia will continue to actively participate," Svetlana Radionova said.

She added that in the second season, the award received more than a thousand foreign works from children from 33 countries of the near and far abroad, which is three times more than in 2021. The award is attended by children and teenagers aged 6 to 17 years.
